Artist's Description
I live by the Sacramento River. This image is a real forest near the protected lands that are adjacent to the riverbanks. Historical records say that John Sutter planted trees in the area (Cottonwood trees and Oak Trees) in the late 1800's so these trees have thrived here for nearly 100 years. Some people who have viewed my images have said that they worry that the vines restrict the water supply for the trees but since they are so close to the river, I believe they share their eco system in harmony. I have photographed these trees in all the different seasons and every time, I marvel that the landscape seems to look futuristic and a bit unreal. But I used minimal editing tools and no AI to create this image.
About Marilyn MacCrakin
I love photography because it always surprises me. I like to merge portraits with photos of nature because the process always has unexpected results. I have created scenes giving Mother Nature a voice and a cause. I have created portraits that bring Shakespearean characters to life. I have been lucky enough to win several awards in the Photography and Fine Arts Exhibition at the California State Fair. I have had Editor Favorites on Your Shot the National Geographic Website. My photo "Seasons of Life" was published by National Geographic Your Shot, selected by Maggie Steber for the Nat Geo story, "Not Just a Face..." I have had many of my photos featured on Instagram by Ourfotoworld and PhotowalkGlobal.
